DEPARTMENTS IN FATIMA

Department of Botany was established in 1952. Under Graduate course in Botany was started in 1952 and the Post Graduate course in 1961. The department was functioning as the nodal department in coordinating the UGC-Innovative Post Graduate course in Food & Dairy Biotechnology.

The vision of ‘Post graduate and Research Department of Chemistry’ is to mould the students by providing quality education and value based growth. This will in turn help our students to become socially responsible citizens.

The establishment of the Department of Physics may be traced back to 1952, when Prof. C.P. Devassy, M.A. assumed charge as Head of the Department. In 1964 Post Graduate courses in Physics were started.

The Department of computer science started in the year 2015 as a part of the Self Financing stream. The Department started with BSc Computer Science program and commenced BCA Programme in the year 2016.

The Department of English is widely recognised for its distinctive stamp of quality that has resulted from the invaluable services of the eminent faculty who helped in nurturing, inspiring and grooming responsible citizens for the future.

The Self Financing Commerce courses were started in the year 2015 as soon as the college was elevated to autonomous status, offering undergraduate B. Com. Co-operation programme. B.Com. Computer Application programme was started in 2016.

The B A Degree Course in English Literature, Language and Communication was started in the year 2015 as soon as the college was conferred the status of autonomy.

The Department of Mathematics was established in the year 1952, with the UG course and it was upgraded to a PG department in 1999. The department boasts of many eminent professors who served the department selflessly and with commitment.

The Department of Psychology was established in 1981; a result of the foresight of Rev. Dr Joseph. J. As a true visionary, he gauged the importance and the need for a Psychology Department in the district.

B.Sc. in Zoology is a three-year undergraduate programme encompassing aspects of scientific knowledge about animal science. The programme includes biological aspects of both living as well as extinct animals.
